There are many prominent sites in Atl linked with Dr. Matn Luther King, Jr. The Martin Luther King, Junior. National Historic Site is made up of an area along Blonde Avenue east of town center. This website includes the birthplace home, the Ebenezer Baptist Church where King preached, and the King Centre. Doctor King was an alumnus of Morehouse School, located just southwest of downtown Atlanta.

The California king Birth Home, located at 501 Auburn Avenue, was integrated 1895. King was born within an upper level bedroom of the house, that was owned by his maternal grandparents. The California king family lived in the house until Martin was 12 years old. The property is part of the Charlie Luther King, Jr. State Historic Site, and area rangers lead guided excursions through the house. The tours have time, but are limited to 12-15 visitors at a time. Martin Luther King, Junior., his father, and his maternal grandfather were all pastors at Ebenezer Baptist Church. King’s funeral was held in the cathedral. A restoration of the historic sanctuary was commenced in 2001. Structural maintenance were made to the building, as well as upgrades to the electric powered and heating and air conditioning systems. Preservation actions for the stained a glass windows and pipe appendage were also taken.

The Martin Luther King, Junior. Center for Nonviolent Community Change was established by Dr. King’s widow, Coretta Scott King, in late 1960s. The center preserves King’s legacy of peaceful interpersonal change and documents his role in the City Rights movement. Exhibits on his life are on display in Freedom Corridor. Martin Luther California king, Jr. graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta in 1948, with a Las vegas treasures degree in sociology.
